Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP)

EARLY BIRD APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 08, 2025- 5PM

GENERAL APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 14, 2025

SHIP offers high school and college students the unique opportunity to explore careers in the healthcare field. Through hands-on experiences and interactive workshops, students gain valuable exposure to various healthcare settings, professionals and students, while developing skills in leadership, teamwork, and cultural competence.

Program Period: June 30 to August 07, 2025

Who should Apply:

  • Current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors 
  • Current college freshmen and sophomores in good standing 
  • Students on track for promotion in June
  • Must be 17 by program start

Program Highlights:

  • Six-week internship placement in a hospital, community-based health center or organization
  • Weekly didactic sessions with health professionals and field trips
  • Exposure to health careers and community health issues

Participation Criteria:

  • Student must attend school or live in Manhattan or Staten Island
  • Student must be between 17-22 years of age at the start of program
  •  Student must be interested in a career in the health field
  • Student must provide two recommendations; one from a teacher or faculty member

Competitive Selection Process: Please be reminded that this is a competitive application process, and students will be selected based on their essay submission and interview results.

*Placement will be based on CDC and NYC Dept of Health guidelines.
