SHIP offers high school and college students the unique opportunity to explore careers in the healthcare field. Through hands-on experiences and interactive workshops, students gain valuable exposure to various healthcare settings, professionals, and students, while developing skills in leadership, teamwork, and cultural competence.
General Application Deadline: February 28, 2026
Program Dates: June 29 – August 6, 2026
– Current high school juniors and seniors
– Current college freshmen and sophomores in good standing
– Students must be at least 16 years old by the program start date
– Student must be interested in a career in the health field
– Student must provide two recommendations: one from a teacher or faculty member
– Six-week paid internship with exposure to hospitals and health care facilities
– Learn about various health careers and community health issues
– Weekly didactic sessions discussing a wide range of community issues, tour health professions schools, and meet practitioners in the field
